This project was created to demonstrate that rock & metal music can be related to Jesus and the Bible: rock and melodic metal can bring and spread words of love and spirituality right to the young ones and not only that.

Metatrone, infact, have another important mission in life: to take part in benefit activities all around the world. Band's first album “ La Mano Potente”, as well as the English version “The Powerful Hand, were made in cooperation with the theological Seminary in Catania.

The Powerful Hand is now released worldwide by Scarlet Records, and by King Records for Japan and Far East only. La Mano Potente is released by TRPMusic in Italy. Check here for press report.

August 2008: Back from Australia!

Metatrone's long journey into Australia has finished. The band returned to Italy last Thuesday, following their much acclaimed performances in the two main metropolises of kangaroo's homeland. After the show at the Australian Catholic University Central Hall, in Melbourne, Metatrone confirmed their musical presence with the amazing appearance at "Viva Agorà - Festa degli Italiani" live show, performing "The Best Way" and "I colori del Sole" in front of a huge audience (estimated over 5.000) at the famous Sydney Entertainment Center (where other many great bands have played since now, from Queen to Muse, from Dire Straits to Iron Maiden and Beyoncè, and so on). The show was filmed and broadcasted on SAT2000 channel, and it also will be released in a dvd (Fall 2008). Next show was at Tumbalong Park, straight ahead from the Entertainment Center: another awesome gig for more than seven hundred people from all over the world, screaming and head-banging on the notes of the Veni Creator Spiritus.
Due to such a great success, Metatrone's official interviews have been released for The Australian and for The Sydney Morning Herald newspapers (click for more). In Italy they officially appeared on L'Avvenire e Il Corriere della Sera, capturing the attention of the medias.
Please, let me thank to God, to my wife and to all the wonderful people I met in this unforgettable experience, for making it one of the most amazing adventure I've ever lived.

Born in Forlimpopoli (FC) 10th October 1976, Stefano Calvagno, almost child, left the North of Italy with his family, to join his actual residence in Catania ( Sicily). First instrument approaching was at the early age of seven, when he began to play his father's classic guitar. After few years of piano lessons, he turned back on guitar as his main instrument and bought his first electrical six strings in 1990.

Passion for heavy metal exploded just then, when he was listening to some great melodic albums which are carved on heavy-metal and hard-rock musical history. Garage experiences immediately followed and some kind of composing study started with them, between dust and sweat. In 1994 togheter with some friends he founded his first garage band, called Arkham.

Next year Stefano met Jo Lombardo as lead vocal (1995). As the Arkham experience was over, he continued with playing guitar, improving sound untill he joined forces with the rising prog-metal band Metafora. In 1998 he recorded all guitars and backing vocals on Metafora's self-produced mini cd, called "Reazioni e memorie". He played with them untill 2000, as Metafora changed into Metatrone.

Since 2001 he is guitarist and composer of Catholic power-progressive rock/metal band Metatrone and founder member together with the Seminary of Catania (Diocese of Catania) of “Metatrone Project” as well. Beside his musical activity, Stefano studied Medicine at the University of Catania and graduated in 2002.

That same Fall he completed the four years School of Homeopathy at SIMOH in Rome. Married since 2004, he now lives, practices medicine and plays guitar in Catania.
